[Bulk] [Bulk] yet another problem with JAWS

Dave...

Terra,

Some others on this list have said that the only way to have JAWS higher
than 12.0.525 working correctly with Excel is to remove shared and user
settings when installing. I personally find that repugnant.

When I re-installed 12.0.525 I re-copied my previous user settings after
installing, so that I did not lose any of my customized files.

I say keep both during install and then overwrite with a backup copy of your
previous set of files from your user settings.

Dave Carlson
From my Dell Latitude 630, currently not nearly close enough for my comfort
to my Audio Recording and Mixing Studios, San Francisco Bay Area. But I'll
try to remedy that situation.

Hi, I have removed JFW 12, and installed it again. Do I need to remove my
settings when it asks during the uninstall process? I said to leave them.

You need to completely remove JAWS 12 and install clean. See my message from
several months back.

I have a strange problem with JFW. I reverted back to version 12.0.522
because of my annoying problem with flash with the latest version, but now
when I go to internet explorer and try to do anything JFW won't read
anything. I can't see links, it won't read text, nothing. I can do an insert
f7 to get to the links list box, but I can't see anything on the page.
Tabbing doesn't work either. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've made
sure it was in full screen and did a jaws refresh. JFW 11 doesn't seem to
have this problem. Thanks for any help.

Dave...

Terra,

Now you've confused me.

If you wanted to be using version 12.0.522, then why did you check for
updates? That would download 12.0.1669 and you're back where you started.

Turn off the automatic update feature in the JAWS Options/Basics dialog and
stay with the version you install (in your case 12.0.522).

And like David earlier I don't understand the role that Flash plays in your
decision to go back to 12.0.522.

Dave...

Terra,

Do you still have JAWS 11? If so, completely remove JAWS 12, and then do an
install of JAWS 11. After a reboot, do a clean install of the version of
JAWS 12 that you want to use.

I had to do this total exorcism to get back to JAWS 12.0.525 after FS
screwed up Excel 2007.

Yes, I know all you listers are sick and tired of hearing me complain about
Excel 2007. However I use it in my job 4 out of 8 hours a day, and since the
"J" in JAWS is supposed to mean "Job" I find it rather important to
emphasize that point to FS via this forum.

Think "Job" not "Junk".

Terra Syslo <tlsyslo@...>

Hi, I have JFW 11 installed on this machine also. I didn't uninstall it,
just JFW 12, and tried to go back to the previous version of JFW 12 before
the latest update, but that's when I ran into the problem of it not reading
anything in internet explorer. I had no idea it would be so complicated to
just go back to a previous version. Had I known the latest version didn't
work correctly with flash content, I never would have updated in the first
place.

Think "Job" not "Junk".

to see if by updating to the latest version it was fixed, and it did fix the
problem with internet explorer, but not the problems I'm having with flash

Terra,

Some others on this list have said that the only way to have JAWS higher

settings when installing. I personally find that repugnant.

When I re-installed 12.0.525 I re-copied my previous user settings after

I say keep both during install and then overwrite with a backup copy of your

I have a strange problem with JFW. I reverted back to version 12.0.522
because of my annoying problem with flash with the latest version, but now
when I go to internet explorer and try to do anything JFW won't read
anything. I can't see links, it won't read text, nothing. I can do an insert
f7 to get to the links list box, but I can't see anything on the page.
Tabbing doesn't work either. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've made

Terra,

Do you still have JAWS 11? If so, completely remove JAWS 12, and then do
an
install of JAWS 11. After a reboot, do a clean install of the version of
JAWS 12 that you want to use.

I had to do this total exorcism to get back to JAWS 12.0.525 after FS
screwed up Excel 2007.

Yes, I know all you listers are sick and tired of hearing me complain
about
Excel 2007. However I use it in my job 4 out of 8 hours a day, and since
the

"J" in JAWS is supposed to mean "Job" I find it rather important to
emphasize that point to FS via this forum.

Think "Job" not "Junk".

The latest version isn't working properly with flash, but when I installed
the previous version nothing would read with internet explorer, so I
wanted
to see if by updating to the latest version it was fixed, and it did fix
the
problem with internet explorer, but not the problems I'm having with flash
content. Doing a clean install of either version leads to the problem of
nothing being read in internet explorer.

Terra,

Now you've confused me.

If you wanted to be using version 12.0.522, then why did you check for
updates? That would download 12.0.1669 and you're back where you started.

Turn off the automatic update feature in the JAWS Options/Basics dialog
and
stay with the version you install (in your case 12.0.522).

And like David earlier I don't understand the role that Flash plays in
your
decision to go back to 12.0.522.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I uninstalled everything and tried an
install of the latest version of JFW 12, and it did the same thing as the
previous version of 12 with regards to not reading in internet explorer. I
then uninstalled it, re-installed jfw 12.0.522 and when I checked for
updates it installed the latest version again, and now it reads in
internet
explorer, but I'm still having the problem with flash content. I really
want
to be using the previous version, but I have no idea why it is not reading
in internet explorer.

I say keep both during install and then overwrite with a backup copy of
your

previous set of files from your user settings.

Hi, I have removed JFW 12, and installed it again. Do I need to remove my
settings when it asks during the uninstall process? I said to leave them.

I have a strange problem with JFW. I reverted back to version 12.0.522
because of my annoying problem with flash with the latest version, but now
when I go to internet explorer and try to do anything JFW won't read
anything. I can't see links, it won't read text, nothing. I can do an
insert
f7 to get to the links list box, but I can't see anything on the page.
Tabbing doesn't work either. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've made
sure it was in full screen and did a jaws refresh. JFW 11 doesn't seem to
have this problem. Thanks for any help.

Had I known the latest version didn't
work correctly with flash content, I never would have updated in the first
place.
