Moderated turning off suggestions in word

Rahul Bajaj

Hi,

I use JAWS 2022, Word 16, Windows 11. JAWS keep giving suggestions on capitalization and auto-suggestion to complete sentences which I do not want. How can I turn these off? They are a huge irritant.

Hi Rahul,

In Word, bring up the file menu with alt+f, choos "Options" - it may be quicker to arrow up than down, choose "Proofing", choose "Auto correct" and have a play in there.

Cheers,

Ed

Small addition: You can bring up options (the second step below_) by pressing t after alt-f.

Thanks, all. How do I implement these changes in a uniform way across all word documents? Right now, I have to do this separately for each document.

I am not seeing an option to do this in the settings centre, under proofing.

To add to that, a particular feature that I want to turn off globally is WOrd suggesting how to complete a word/sentence, based on the letters that I have entered. E.g., when I enter "frien," it suggests" friendship."

Hello Tom:

Open up a new message in Outlook. Then press ALT+F then t. Arrow down to mail.  Tab to Editor Options, press Space. Now, arrow down to Advanced and start tabbing. You will find the Autocorrect checkbox there, which you can turn off with space.

I’ve now turned off auto-suggestions in Word, but how do I do this in Outlook?

Open the Word options, Alt + T, then press the letter, O.

Down arrow to the Advanced category now tab until you find, show auto complete suggestions, uncheck this

You might also find the option to make your changes globally across all documents in this category.

Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.

To add to that, a particular feature that I want to turn off globally is WOrd suggesting how to complete a word/sentence, based on the letters that I have entered. E.g., when I enter "frien," it suggests" friendship."

I am not seeing an option to do this in the settings centre, under proofing.

Small addition: You can bring up options (the second step below_) by pressing t after alt-f.

Hi Rahul,

In Word, bring up the file menu with alt+f, choos "Options" - it may be quicker to arrow up than down, choose "Proofing", choose "Auto correct" and have a play in there.

Cheers,

Ed

I have turned off auto-suggest for completion of words. How can I turn off suggestions on grammar and suggestions on proofing?
