Moderated turn off virtual PC cursor permanently
K0LNY
Hi All,
In windows Live mail, every time I start a new message, and tab into the body, the virtual PC cursor becomes active, and I can't type, my keystrokes are interpreted as HTML quick keys. I have to do insert Z to turn it off. How do I find the Jaws settings to make it off all the time? Thanks. Glenn |

Hi Glenn,
Try holding down the Insert key and tapping the, Z
key twice. This is what you'll hear,
The virtual cursor will be turned off for all applications
Hit Insert + Z to turn it back on.
Take care. Mike. Go Dodgers. Sent from my iBarstool. "A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort." ----- Original Message -----

Glenn,
I screwed up a little. To turn the virtual
cursor back on do, Insert + Z twice quickly again.

I don't know if the Virtual PC cursor can be turned off permanently, but I do know that you can turn off the navigation quick keys. Have you tried that?

hi Mike,
Isn't there a way to only turn it off for my eMail? I mean, it's essential for browsers. Hi Gene,
Is there a way to do that permanently for a specific application? Thanks. -------------------------------------------------- From: "Gene Warner" <genewarner3@...> Sent: Tuesday, March 14, 2023 10:25 PM To: <main@jfw.groups.io> Subject: Re: turn off virtual PC cursor permanently I don't know if the Virtual PC cursor can be turned off permanently, but I do know that you can turn off the navigation quick keys. Yes there is. First, while you are in the app, press JAWS+6 to go into the settings center. Then in the search box type "navigation" without the quotes, that will bring up a list of hits, tab to the list, then use up and down arrow to find the navigation quick keys option, now press space to cycle through the three options, on, on for say all only, and off. Finally save your changes then exit.

I just checked to satisfy my curiosity. You can turn off the virtual PC cursor! It's the same procedure I told you for turning off the navigation quick keys, but instead of searching for "navigation", search for "virtual". In the list of hits will be one from the miscellaneous section called "use virtual pc cursor" or something like that, it will be obvious when you find it.

The only weird thing about this is, if I turn off virtual PC cursor, I can't
read the messages. But if I open a message with it on, I can turn it off, and reply, and I can read the quoted below my text, which I can also read. Maybe I'll see if I can read messages in text format. There aren't options to compose in Text, but I checked to reply in the format that the message was received. In that case, maybe you just need is to turn off the navigation quick keys and see if that works for you.
