Right now, Firefox is one big freaking mess. FF 6 is already in beta and is scheduled to be released on August 16. And FF 7 is not far behind. So if Webvisum doesn't work with FF 5, then it certainly won't work with FF 6.

Then I downloaded FF3.6.19 from a message sent by another lister, went to Webvisum and tried downloading the plugin, but still the plugin wasn't activated. If you have a link to Firefox 4 please send it, but last spring I got this message regarding some of its drawbacks: Gone are the layers of tool bars, status bars, the bookmark bar. Instead there is a row of tabs-much like Chrome. Interestingly, Mozilla is sticking to the more traditional address box on the left and search box on the right like IE and Safari. Chrome has combined the search box and address box into one. Have these issues been resolved yet? Thanks again for your feedback.

If you have FF3 installed why not just do the normal install? That should still work fine as far as I know. I was only having problems because I did upgrade to FF5 when it was offered, not realizing that the upgrade would kill webvisum. It was working fine even with FF4.

I hit Install, restarted Firefox and checked one of the notification/alert options but find no sign of the plugin working--no clicking sound or login alert upon opening Firefox. Perhaps I should try installing Firefox 5, but I might risk losing 3. Thanks anyway.

You don't need a new invitation. I have no idea whether it will work with FF3.6. And yes, I got the same warning and just sucked it up and installed anyway.

I'm still using FF3.6; will this version of the plugin only work on 5.0 or later? Do I need a new invitation or new account with Webvisum? Thanks. Okay, I downloaded and installed the XPI from that page (not the easiest thing to find due to the page being in German and eloquence continually switching to German pronunciation). It actually works better than indicated for me (win7 pro 64bit, jaws 12), I even get the speech notices when a challenge has been submitted and solved (the only operation I use webvisum for). Thanks

Got the following from a Webvisum list member; not sure it will work for those (including me) who don't use Linux, or if it's worth the trouble if there's no captcha solution notification. Thanks for your feedback.

Hi,
look here: http://www.camp-firefox.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=91070 and try to install Webvisum from the xpi linked there. * Works without trouble with FF5 (at least under Linux) and is supposed to work with 6 either. * You obviously won't get any notifications from Webvisum (e.g. when a captcha is solved), at least I cannot see any, might be a screenreader issue. * Just mail me if the link is down; in this case I would provide an alternative.
