moderated TI BA II plus professional financial calculator

Ann Byrne

Has anyone had experience with this calculator? Is it hardware or software? does it work with JAWS? I have been asked to help someone with it, and I have never heard of it.

thx,

Randy Meyer

Ann:

It sounds like a handheld calculator you buy at a store or Amazon. I suspect
you won't be able to make it talk.

I was a financial planner for 20 years, and I only found one talking
handheld financial calculator that could do the basics like present value
and future value. It could not do more complex calculations, like internal
rate of return. I used it to help me pass one Chartered Financial Consultant
exam, but never use it for client work.

I relied on learning and using formulas in Excel.

I hope my quick thoughts help.

It sounds like a handheld or desktop calculator. I didn't look too far into it but I would bet that it probably doesn't talk, however there is a talking version of their TI-84 scientific calculator. I don't know if Texas Instruments makes it or if a third party modifies them to talk just as TDS Inc modifies Black & Decker toaster ovens to make a talking version for visually impaired people.

Here is a link I found about the TI-BA2+ calculator.

Gene,

I believe that the American Printing House for the Blind sells the TI-84 modified scientific calculator. I have always wanted to own one, but am currently waiting for my rich uncle to die in the poorhouse!

If I was much younger than I am now I'd want one too, back then I still had vision and had an HP82G programmable graphing calculator. That thing was more like a handheld computer in a calculator case.

At this point in my life a talking four function calculator with percent and memory suits me just fine.

The TI" stands for Texas Instruments; and it's, not surprisingly, a
financial calculator produced by them available from many places including
Amazon.
As for use by JAWS, I doubt that there would be any way to do this.
I'd be delighted to learn that I'm wrong.
