Moderated status bar in outlook 365

Cher

Instead of showing the number of messages, it is now showing the name of the folder. Every suggestion I found on the web said to locate the status bar and right click. Not working here! Any keyboard methods?

Greetings:

I am seeing this out of context. For me, JAWSKEY plus Page Down (numpad 3) works just fine with the Outlook subscription version.

Cordially,

Curtis Chong

Cher,

I’m using Outlook 2019, not the subscription version. If the two versions are similar in this respect, you can obtain the information you seek by pressing F6 and using the up and down arrow keys.

I vaguely recall reading that when you’re in this area, pressing enter on, say, the page numbers, that detail will start showing up on the status line.

I hope I’m not completely making this up. With luck my bungling will trigger a response from someone who knows.

I could not make any of that work. The number of files always showed up until a couple of weeks ago.

There’s the usual suggestion to run a repair, presumably of Office. However, I don’t know if a repair is possible for the subscription version. Maybe see if you find Microsoft Office in add/remove programs. A JAWS repair is also an option.

Thanks. I did a repair but was only given the option for a quick one, which did not help. I think you have the right idea, but will check with MS for a fuller  repair. The control-E search quit working about the same time as the file numbers were replaced by the folder name in the status bar.

Cher,

Here’s how I get to “online repair” in add/remove programs. I know you did the first several steps:

Place focus against the program name.

Press the applications key.

I can then arrow up or down between “uninstall” and “change.” Select change.

Now the “repair” button appears. I believe you got this far.

Now, instead of pressing the spacebar on the repair button, tab two or three times to land on a checkbox. Arrow down and you’ll see there’s a second checkbox, which is the one for online repair.

Hi,

I launched the full repair for Office after the quick repair failed to fix my issue.  The full repair uninstalled the office suite and in the midst  of the re install and repair an error occurred and thus Office was completely gone.  Wonderful person at Microsoft Disability Desk got me back on track.

Yes, full repair can work but beweare of possible trouble.

Thank you for this report, Dan. I’d never used the online repair, and now I doubt I ever will.
