Moderated Sharky inconsistent

On my computers as well as muy students' machine, sharky is inconsistent. It might work once, but not twice. I have checked the settings everywhere; system trays say that JAWS is using the microphone, but Sharky doesn't respond. Is this happening to anyone else? Is there a cure?
