I'm not sure how seriously MSE is taken in the antivirus community; it doesn't even rate on a lot of lists, but AVG still gets high marks, though I must add, not as much as they used to.

What do you mean that MSE is not taken very seriously? It has consistently garnered positive reviews from leading tech experts . It is very much a heavyweight among anti-virus programs, and has outranked AVG and Avast in a number of comparative studies.

After all, it is only right and proper, that Microsoft should make the effort, in producing a good set of house-cleaning tools, to clean up the mess that they create in the first place.
