Hello friends

What is screen echo in JAWS? It has options, all, none and highlighted. Do the totally blind use it

The explanation is to be found in JAWS quick settings. Open quick settings with JAWS key-v and type "echo" in the edit field that comes up right away. Arrow down to the screen echo option, then tab once to the explanation.

I use it, especially when I want to hear the percentage of files being
copied from one drive to another. If screen echo is set to None or
Highlighted, the percentages won't voice, unless you use a key combination
to get the status.

It is also useful if you want to silence some things which echo too
verbosely when screen echo is set to highlighted. In this case, I set it to
None, to avoid excess temporary verbocity.

For on the fly changing of the screen echo, use JAWS+S, it will cycle between the three options, all, highlighted, and none. As far as I can tell this is only held in memory and does not change the saved setting, so restarting JAWS, either by command or by restarting Windows or rebooting will reset it back to the setting you have saved.
