Moderated Question about Making a Web Page Accessible

Good Morning,
The church that I attend is in the process of creating a new web page. The old one had a lot of issues for everyone, not just me, the only blind person using it. I recently offered to take a look at the new page for any issues that jumped out at me. I am not a programmer, nor will I ever be. I can look at a web page to see how well it works for me and that’s it.
There are four places that JAWS says are a mixture of letters. When I asked a sighted family member to tell me what they saw, it was actual words. The first one was “Hellothumb”. The text he saw was “Hello and introduction”.
The other thing that jumped out at me was links to the Youtube page and the Facebook page. Youtube is an icon I think. It reads “YTIcon”. Can these be renamed or labeled as well?
I’ve given my comments to the person responsible for creating the new page. He said he’s using a templet they were given to use. He’s going to see what can be done to fix these, but I’m not holding out much hope.
My questions for this group are the following. How easy is it to make changes to a template, that is if it can be done at all. Can labels or tags be added that would read correctly? I’m sure that there will be more questions. Right now, I don’t know enough about how to do any of this to come up with them.
I am going to see if I can talk with the people who created the template. I appreciate any ideas that are sent my way.

You can lable a page on your computer with the graphics labeler.
Insert control plus g. It says it can put graphics in a list, but it also labels them. Maybe if you do the keystroke on an unlabeled them in a list, and label them.
The one I'd use for buttons is insert control plus tab.
That is for unlabeled buttons.
Someone, feel free to add too or correct.

Thanks for everyone’s answers.
Surprisingly, the page has now been fixed. The man who was creating the page was entering information into a template he had been given. He knows nothing about programming or accessibility. I’m the only blind person he’s ever met. That said, with what I told him, he was able to go back to the company that created the template, and as of late this afternoon, all the issues I found have been fixed.
