Moderated PDF To Word Conversion Question

Tom Behler

Hello, everyone.

As you may remember, I spent some time over the last few days getting Adobe Acrobat DC set up as my default PDF reader on a new Windows 11 Lenovo laptop.

While I think I have now resolved this issue, I discovered another issue this evening.

Specifically, I wish to convert a PDF file that I just received to a Microsoft Word document.

On my older Windows 10 PC, I can do this by getting into Microsoft Word, doing a control F12, finding the file I wish to convert, and then hitting ok to begin the document conversion process.  The process finishes very quickly with short documents like the one I am working with tonight.

However, I’m finding that this process does not work on my new Windows 11 Lenovo laptop.

When I get into Word, and do control F12, I can easily find the pdf file I wish to convert.  But when I open the file and am prompted to say ok to the conversion process, nothing happens, and Microsoft Word locks up.

Is there something I must do in Adobe Acrobat DC, or in Microsoft Word to enable this conversion process on the new Windows 11 Lenovo laptop?

I have Microsoft 365 installed on both computers.

Thanks for any guidance on this issue.

THERE MAY BE VARIOUS METHODS FOR THE CONVERSION PROCESS.
INSTEAD OPENING THE FILES FROM THE WORD, YOU CAN PUT THE FOCUS ON THE
FILE AND USE OPEN WITH OPTION FROM THE WORD SO THAT THE DOCUMENT
QUICLY CONVERTS TO WORD FORMAT AND READY FOR THE USAGE.

Tom,

Word 365 should be able to open a PDF and do automatic conversion in its "out of the box" state.  If something's balking on one of your machines, I'd suggest reaching out to Microsoft Windows & Office Accessibility Support

Something's amiss, and they may be the quickest route to a fix.

I tried opening the PDF, and then saving it in Word, but had no luck that way either.

Once again, everything works just fine on my older Windows 10 PC, so I know the file is ok.

And, remember, both computers have Office 365.

Brian:

I agree, and a call to Microsoft Accessibility might be my best route.

I always like to try other options or strategies first before making such a call, but that might be my last resort.

As do I, generally.  But when it comes to M365 misbehaving, the only option I've ever seen work that can be done independently is trying an M365 Repair.  If you want to try one before calling, it's not difficult, and at least you can tell the Microsoft techs that you've already tried one if you do need to call them.

Hey Tom.

Can’t you do the converstion within Adobe’s programme rather than microsoft’s? I seem to recall it has a bunch of conversion options reachable from the export menu. The last version I used was Acrobat Pro version 12 or something though.
