Moderated jaws reading some words in Spanish
Rahul Bajaj
Hi All,
I use JAWS 2022, word 16. JAWS at random speaks some words in Spanish rather than English. How can I stop this from happening?

While in Word you could try turning off, Language
Detect Change, in Jaws quick settings, Insert + V. Setting explained
below.
This option controls whether or not JAWS detects
changes in languages within documents which support language tags.
For example, if JAWS finds Spanish text on a Web page, that text is spoken in Spanish. This detection only affects those synthesizers,
such as Eloquence, that support multiple languages.
In Word, the default setting is On. In Outlook, the default setting is Off.

Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool.

Hi Rahul, check in JAWS settings if the option "detect languages automatically" are disable. This can may help you.

It sounds similar to experiences I've had with Word. Parts of my Word documents would suddenly be treated as if in French. Words were also indicated as being misspelled. I had no idea what caused it. After going to the language settings in Word, Alt, r, u, l, I could set it back to English. My conclusion has been that it is a bug in Word. But since I can't reproduce it, I could never report it.

I've never had this issue, but it seems like if you have Spanish in your Word document, and your language detector is working correctly, then you would get the Spanish text.

For that poster who said they are language was in French, Did you learn some of the language anyway? ? Do you think it would help others to learn a new language, at least briefly? ?
