Moderated JAWS Not Speaking When Chrome Automatically Fills in Address Bar
Hi All,
With JAWS 2023, when typing a URL into the address bar in Chrome, if Chrome auto completes the URL, JAWS does not speak what is populated for the auto completion, so it is hard to tell if it filled in the correct URL.
With JAWS 2022, it did speak the auto completion text.
Does anyone know how to get JAWS to speak this again? I can’t seem to find a relevant setting.
Thanks,
Pam
Arrowing down once might do the trick. It seems to work for me.

I’ve been having the same problem. It probably started within the last month or so.
Arrowing down does not read anything for me. I have to press the insert key and the numpad 5 for JAWS to tell me what the address bar now shows.
I also haven’t figured out any setting to change this back.

Hi, Pam. I have already reported this bug, as well as other bugs where JAWS does not speak important content while in chromium browsers such as Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. They are working on a fix in an upcoming update. I don't, however, know if it will be the very next JAWS update.

I’m not sure what’s going on here, but I had loaded JAWS2022 to verify that it was working there, and it did. Then I restarted JAWS2023, and now it is speaking the auto completed text. Strange.

Hi all,
It is not working for me either. I tried with NVDA and it worked, so this seems to be exclusively a JAWS problem.
David
That’s interesting. I’m not having the same results. It works fine on 22, but nothing on 23. Even if I try it on 22, then close and reopen 23, 23 is still the same.

Ok, I have discovered that it only works if you type just the first letter of what you are looking for. Typing more than one letter will still not work.
