Moderated JAWS not announcing presence of confirmation button to delete on AT&T site via Chrome

I cannot seem to figure out how to get JAWS to announce the presence of a confirmation button, on the AT&T email website via Chrome, to confirm deletion.  Obviously, all is good now that I know confirmation is needed, after clicking on “delete”, but if possible, I would like JAWS to perform better on other pages where this may happen.  Any thoughts?

I’m using current versions of Windows 10, JAWS 23 and Google Chrome.  The site is ATT.net, page with email.

  1. I mark messages for deletion; for example, 30 messages.
  2. I click on the button to permanently delete 30 messages.
  3. If memory serves, JAWS says “delete” or perhaps it read the label of the button I clicked on.  I do know it feels like nothing changed.
  4. When arrowing down a time or two, I find there is a button/question about confirming that I want to permanently delete…
  5. I confirm and JAWS announces the messages were deleted.

Hey Katrina.

It might be a modal dialogue or something. It’s a little popup box that appears when you do a certain action. They aren’t always awesome with screen-readers, although they’re usually ok. I think one would have to take a look at the page though to get an idea of what is happening when the confirmation thing appears.
