Moderated Jaws keeps freezing when creating a rule in the notification history
molly the blind tech lover
Greetings.
I am attempting to create a rule in the Jaws notification history, where I'd like to have Jaws play a sound instead of saying "loading complete", when a page in Microsoft edge loads. The problem is that Jaws seems to freeze after I've selected the sound I want and tab to the "open file" button. After clicking on this button, that's when Jaws seems to freeze. I can't move the tab, shift tab, or arrow keys. I can't even close the notification history with alt f4. I've restarted Jaws several times, but the notification dialogue box is still there. I've rebooted my pc, but Jaws keeps freezing when I try to create a rule. I am probably not explaining this very well. Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be going on? This is my first time creating a rule, so I don't have much experience with the notification history. Running Windows 11, version 22h2, and Jaws 2023. Thanks. Regards Molly |

Hi, Molly. JAWS 2023 was just updated, Monday, December 19. Try updating JAWS, and see if the rule-creating function works properly in the new JAWS update.

Can you create a different maybe simpler rule in the Jaws notification history, without Jaws freezing? This may show that Jaws is freezing with any created rule or Jaws may be freezing with something related to the rule you are trying to create hth, TJ On 12/19/2022 2:23 PM, molly the blind

What type of sound file
are you using?

.wav .mp3 etc, I do not know for sure, however it may be that Jaws may not support all sound formats. I am interested in sounds for notifications, please keep us informed on your progress. Thanks, TJ On 12/22/2022 7:35 PM, molly the blind
