Hi Curtis!
I don't disagree with you, I've just never had the need to record an Aira or Be My Eyes session or anything else while away from home.

I guess I don't really understand what you are getting at, for this simple and accessible technique for getting photos off the iPhone, why bother recording it? Just spread the word. I will admit that I have recorded sessions with Aira, primarily because I am asking them to read information off of something that I will want to transcribe into One Note later and when I do that I always tell the agent that I'm recording the session because as I understand it, it isn't entirely legal to record someone without their knowledge or consent.

Hi Mike!
Oh man! If that works with my iPhone SE 2022, I will be so happy! Finally an accessible way to get my photos off my phone!
After some googling around I discovered that Sandisk makes a flash drive that they call iXpand which plugs into an iPhone to transfer your photos onto, then you plug it into a USB port on your computer to copy the photos to your computer. I was considering this approach if there was nothing else available.
I called Apple support about this accessibility problem an their position was that "Yes, they are committed to full accessibility for all of their products", but what isn't said is that that commitment only applies as long as you are using nothing but Apple products. Insert a non Apple product and nothing is guaranteed. To me that is not accessibility, to me accessibility should be platform agnostic. That being said, my next phone will be an Android phone and Apple can pound sand for all that I care! I simply cannot support a conditional accessibility statement like that.

Hi everyone!
I am trying to transfer all of my photos from my iPhone to my PC, but so far haven't had any luck. First, using Edge I logged into my Apple ID then went to my iCloud drive with no problems. Then when I tried to select my photos so I could download them, my iCloud drive seemed empty even though it was reporting having something like 78 photos. I even tried using the touch cursor but still had no luck.
Then I was told that I should install iCloud for Windows and it would download my photos for me, so I did. Now I not only find that I cannot access anything on my iCloud drive, the app won't stay loaded. It used to have a notification area icon but that never shows up any more even though all three startup programs that Apple installed are turned in the Windows 10 settings program.
So what do I do now? I know I could just email the pictures to myself, but with almost 80 photos, that would be quite tedious.
I thought Apple was committed to full accessibility for all of their products and I know that iCloud for Windows is an Apple product. Had I known that Apple would make it this difficult, I'd have emailed the photos to myself as soon as I took them.
Thanks! Gene...

Hi Glenn!
What I don't understand is, why can't Apple be like Android and design their phone to look like an external drive so you don't need any custom software to put content on it or to retrieve your data off it.
As for me, I have been hearing that as long as I don't need or want to use Braille on my phone, Android is now just as accessible as iOS, so I am now looking at Android phones and will be dumping Apple. Before I lost my vision, I preferred Android anyway, I only switched to iOS because at the time I lost my vision iOS was far more accessible than Android.

I had actually suggested that they make two buttons, one to contact a volunteer with a recording, and one to call a volunteer without a recording. And a message could pop up on the volunteer's screen that the call is recorded for later reference by the caller.

Hi Gene, I think Apple is trying to keep it safe from hacking, and that is why it is so locked down. I do like the way Android is easy to access, and root and all that. However using both, I think the Android gestures are harder to use than the IOS platform. Glenn

Hi Glenn!
The problem I see with that is that every app you'd want to record would have to add that capability. What might be better is a separate app that can do the recording for you, then you just tell the person on the other end that you are recording the session for later reference. Then that one app could be used for any app you want to record.
But still, what you suggest is a good idea, they already do that for sending a message to the agent before the connection is made. I use that feature to let the agent know that the session will be a Team Viewer session.
When you enable the message feature, you get two buttons, 'Call Aira' and 'Call Aira with message'.

Thanks! Gene...

Hi Gene, But the problem with that is that recordings aren't accessible via plugging in the iPhone, like videos and pictures. I don't know if another app's video can be accessed in the dism folder or not, that is the hundred thousand dollar question. Glenn

Hi Glenn!
Maybe so, but I am already looking at a bit of a learning curve as I adapt to Android and unlearn what iOS has taught me. But I'll get there and from my memories, I'll ultimately be happier for it. I have never liked Apple's walled garden approach, and I don't think it's about security, they want to force you to have to use iTunes to transfer data to and from your phone because maybe you'll buy your music from it. You should read "After Steve" by Tripp Mickle.

Thanks! Gene...

Hi Glenn!
You'd have the exact same problem if the Aira or Be My Eyes apps did the recording.

Gene... I had actually suggested that they make two buttons, one to contact a volunteer with a recording, and one to call a volunteer without a recording. And a message could pop up on the volunteer's screen that the call is recorded for later reference by the caller.

Getting off my soapbox now...
Thanks! Gene...
