moderated issue with sending a link

Madison Martin

Hi all,
I'm trying to send a link to a few people as the option to share the article via
email didn't work (all that was in the body of the message was the word
headline) but the end of the web address keeps getting cut off so it's not part
of the link when I paste it into the body of a message, any idea what I can do
to fix this so that the whole address is a link? Using latest versions of edge,
Jaws, Microsoft 365 and Windows 11.
Madison

Hi, Madison.
1. In Microsoft Edge, in Settings>Share, Copy and Paste, make sure plain
text is selected as your method to share the link.
2. In your email program, make sure that, in JAWS, Virtual Cursor is set to
Copy from Virtual Cursor. This setting can be found using JAWS key plus V,
under Virtual Cursor Options.
3. Make sure that, when you are sending e-mail, you are set for html, not
plain text.

Hi Bill,
I can't find virtual cursor options... There's touch cursor options but there
doesn't seem to be anything else to do with cursors other then in braille
settings which I know that's not what I want. I never knew there were so many
options within Jaws settings; when I change a setting I just open Jaws and then
go to whatever category the setting is in so I've never really explored all of
the catagories

Hi, Madison. Are you using the Outlook email program? If so, find a message
with links in it, then use JAWS Key plus V. If there were links in the
message you opened, you should be able to find Virtual Cursor Options.

You must press ENTER on Virtual Cursor Options to see the Copy from Virtual
Cursor Option, and you must be in a message that contains links.

If you would call me, we could tandem, and I could find that setting for
you.

1. Press JAWS Key plus V. Search for the word Virtual.
2. When you find Virtual Cursor Options, press ENTER to open it.
3. If you find a setting which says, "Select and Copy Full content using
onscreen highlight", press SPACE, and it should change to, "From Virtual

4. TAB to OK, and press ENTER.
5. Now, open the browser you use, and repeat steps one through four.

whole email or portion thereof into a new email?

Hi, Madison. If you are in an email message that contains links,

1. Press JAWS Key plus V. Search for the word Virtual.
2. When you find Virtual Cursor Options, press ENTER to open it.
3. If you find a setting which says, "Select and Copy Full content using
onscreen highlight", press SPACE, and it should change to, "From Virtual
Cursor".
4. TAB to OK, and press ENTER.
5. Now, open the browser you use, and repeat steps one through four.
6. Now you should be able to copy the links without having them cut off.

you

there
doesn't seem to be anything else to do with cursors other then in braille

Hi, Madison.
1. In Microsoft Edge, in Settings>Share, Copy and Paste, make sure plain
text is
selected as your method to share the link.
2. In your email program, make sure that, in JAWS, Virtual Cursor is set to
Copy
from Virtual Cursor. This setting can be found using JAWS key plus V, under
Virtual Cursor Options.
3. Make sure that, when you are sending e-mail, you are set for html, not
plain
text.

Hi all,
I'm trying to send a link to a few people as the option to share the article
via
email didn't work (all that was in the body of the message was the word
headline) but the end of the web address keeps getting cut off so it's not
part
of the link when I paste it into the body of a message, any idea what I can
do
to fix this so that the whole address is a link? Using latest versions of
edge,
Jaws, Microsoft 365 and Windows 11.

Madison:

If the link is imbedded in the body of the email, you need to copy and paste
what you think of as the entire link into something like Word or Notepad.
Check the link to be sure that unintended line breaks are not included in
the link. If you see a line break (JAWS might say blank or something like
that), get rid of it and let the text of the link join up as it should.

Once you have what you believe to be the correct link, test it first by
activating it in a browser. If it works, send the link by copying it and
then pasting it into the body of an email.

Hey Madison,

Another way you could copy the link is to open it in your web browser by pressing enter on the link from the email, then go to the address bar and copy the link that way.

Most of the time, you'll be able to hit the applications key on a link and
just copy it that way. Much easier than worrying about the line breaks or
copying to a text file.
However some links are designed not to work this way. For example, if I get
a notification from my bank about a money transfer, I cannot copy the link
this way. Not sure how this is determined in html.

Personally, I would never send a link, or post it on a list, without first
checking that it actually works and that it is not java as has already
been explained.
Sometimes, with long long links, it may be a good idea to use one of those
websites or programs that can shorten links to 20-24 characters.
Does anyone know of a site which can currently do such link shortening?

One think you can do is copy the link in notepad, then send it.

You can copy it into the browser when the e-mail is received.

Sometimes, you can pull up list links and the link will still wwork without
doing that.

Probably something like that. It makes sense I guess that the link for a
funds transfer can't just be grabbed like that. Trying to access the context
