Moderated Issue after updating to Jaws 2023.2212.23 December 2022
Leo
Hello, after updating to Jaws December 2022 release, not all the icons appear in the system tray. If I go to the system tray by using Windows key plus b, and navigate through the icons, I can definitely see all the icons of the programs I have running on, but when I access the system tray by using the Jaws command, JawsKey plus f11, there are many programs that don’t appear in the list of icons. Basically, I can only see the system icons, such as volume, graphic card, etc…. I’m using Windows 11 fully updated, and this issue was not happening before today’s Jaws update. Is anyone else having this issue?

I also encountered issues with the new 2023 update such that I immediately went back to using the 2022 version from July as my primary use screen reader.

The issues I encountered were the same issues I encountered when I tried the 2023 version from October. They were; * As you type into Edge's address bar, JAWS would read the suggested url based on what you typed. For example if I pressed the 'a' key, the first suggestion that JAWS would read would be Amazon.com, I could then press enter if that was where I wanted to go. JAWS 2023 does not read those suggestions, all it reads is the key that I pressed. That's a definite no go for me. * another issue was in Thunderbird when sending an email. Previous versions of JAWS would read the dialog title for sending the message, JAWS 2023 only reads the cancel key. I prefer to here the dialog title as it contains the subject of the message I am sending. * Then there is the issue that audio ducking is slow to release 3rd party audio it is suppressing. This seems to be a side effect of whatever fix they put in for Dell's WaveMax audio because it also appeared in the 2022 November update and supposedly the only change there was the addition of the WaveMax fix. I have notified Vispero of these problems and so far it doesn't look like they are going to do anything about them, so until there are fixes for these, I will continue to use the 2022 July update version of JAWS. I do intend to open yet another case about these ongoing problems with Vispero in the hope that they will finally realize that these are problems they need to fix. Happy holidays! Gene... Hi,
I have noticed that same thing you described. I will think on this as to how to fix it. Hopefully some others who are running Windows 11 acknowledge the same result.

Hello:
This does not seem to be an issue for those of us who are still on Windows 10. Interesting.
Warmly,
Curtis Chong

I'll second that, despite the issues I encountered, the problem with the tray icons not showing up was not one of them. I am running 64 bit Windows 10 Home 22H2.

I’m looking to see where to fix this problem and If I cannot find a fix, this will be a call to FS Tech Support in the morning. \

That's for sure! The system tray was
displaying just fine until I installed the December update in Windows 11,
Windows 10 is just fine.
Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool. ----- Original Message -----
