Moderated How To Get My New Focus 40 Blue 5G To Deliver Recognized Input
Kane Brolin
Greetings.
In the past couple of months, I have become the brand-new owner of a
Focus 40-cell, 5th generation Braille display. So far I like it very
much, at least in the limited ways I have used it so far.
The only thing I am disappointed about happens when I have the Focus
connected to an external device and want to type something from the
Braille keyboard on the focus into an edit box. Somehow, the Focus'
settings are such that no input that I provide using the built-in
Perkins keyboard is recognized. Typing on the Perkins keyboard does
not move the cursor or result in any characters being added to the
fields I am editing.
This happens both when connected to my iPhone via Bluetooth or when
connected to my Windows 10 laptop via USB cable.
The Perkins keys seem to be responsive, so I doubt it is a hardware
issue. The Focus is nearly new and has been gently used, not damaged
in any way since purchased.
I don't see why this should not be solved by something as simple as
modifying a setting in the Focus. Please fill me on however you can.
Thank you.
Respectfully,
-Kane

Kane,
It sounds to me like your fucus could be locked. To unlock the display, press the right mode button and the 14th cursor routing button at the same time. This should unlock your keyboard. If it's not locked, then I'm not sure what the issue could be but try doing that first and see if that helps.
