How To Get My Focus 40 To Be Recognized As A Storage Drive?

Kane Brolin #102843 Hi, everybody. I just received a 5th Generation Focus 40 Braille display: the first one I ever have owned which contains a 32-GB micro-SD card slot. When I connect the Focus 40 via its USB cord to a PC, it automatically comes alive to serve as a "slave" Braille display to that PC. But even though there is a card in the card reader slot, that storage card is not recognized by any of the three computers I've tried it on. One of the reasons I purchased the Focus 40 is that I want to be able to travel with it and use it as a self-contained Braille display, with files in BRF that may be read or edited from the micro-SD card. This happens to be the only micro-SD card reader that I own; so I would prefer not to have to purchase another card-reading device; and, more to the point, I don't want to have to remove and replace this small and delicate card if I can simply leave it permanently inside the Focus 40 and write directly to the card that way. TJ McElroy gMail #102846 Hi, I found your question intrusting, so I googled the following: Focus 14, 40, and 80 Blue - 5th Generation User's Guide https://www.freedomscientific.com/Content/Documents/Manuals/Focus/Focus-Blue-Online-Users-Guide.htm The Scratchpad allows you to open and read braille formatted files that use the BRF extension from various services such as BARD directly on your Focus display. To transfer BRF files to the Micro SD card: list of 2 items 1. Close the Scratchpad and power off the Focus. 2. Press and hold the Left Panning button while simultaneously powering on the display. Connect the Focus to your computer using the supplied USB cable, and the display will be recognized as a removable USB drive. list end Note: If you use a screen reader such as JAWS over USB, it is recommended that you turn on speech or use a Bluetooth connection as braille will currently not work over USB when the Focus is being used as a storage device. You will also not be able to use the Scratchpad while in this mode. list of 5 items 3. On the PC, open the folder containing your BRF files, select the files you want, and then press CTRL+C . 4. Navigate to and open the USB drive to display the contents of the Micro SD card. 5. Open FSI, Focus5, Scratchpad, Books, and then press CTRL+V to place the BRF files into this folder. 6. Once you have finished transferring BRF books, press the APPLICATIONS key on your computer while focused on the USB drive, and choose Eject. 7. Ashleigh Piccinino #102849 This is not going to be as short as I think it should be, but you need to have your focus for the display in what I call quote Drive quote mode. Make sure your display is turned off. 2. Press the power button and the left panning button together. While plugging in the display. Three, the display will now issue as a drive, hence quote Drive quote mode. Ashleigh Piccinino #102851 This is the last of my emails in this thread. After you have your display. As a drive, you can view things on it. And. Copy and delete things. However, you cannot work the display. Itself. You will have to unplug. The drive mode. To do this. Drive Mode is also. Good for updating your display.
