moderated Homerow key & instance of attribute

Leo

Hello, the following is a description of a Jaws command:

Find First Instance Of Attribute. HomeRow + control + `

This scripting tool Moves the Scripting Utility to the first requested attribute. Attributes are defined using the Set Attribute scripting tool. The attributes are cycled in the following order: bold, italic, underline, strikeout, and highlight.

No matter how I try, I just can’t wrap my head round this command! Firstly, I don’t know what is the homerow key, and secondly, I don’t even know  how this command would work in a real context. So,  could anyone throw some light on this matter?

Hey.

I don’t know why it’s worded this way or why the “cycling” would not just be done with a single key. Homerow is nota  single key but refers to the keys they tell you to place your fingers on when you’re learning to type, startign wtiht eh letter a and on to the apostrophe. So essentially when your hands are just resting on a keyboard, your fingers would be positioned on the homerow while you thumb might be on the spacebar.

Don’t know how this applies to the scripting command though. Someone else who knows more about jaws scripting might.

Hi Leo,

Check this out, comes from several years ago.

Right from jaws 11 help.

The name of the Home Row Utility has been changed to Script Utility Mode. In addition, the keystroke to toggle this mode on or off is now INSERT+WINDOW
Key+NUM PAD MINUS instead of INSERT+SPACEBAR. Script Utility Mode is a function for advanced scripters. The laptop keystroke for Script Utility Mode is
CAPS LOCK+WINDOWS Key+DASH.

Thanks Negoslav, this is just what I was looking for.

In script utility (home row) mode, you can find out such things as the
window name, class, subclass code, etc. to the window you are on.

Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.  Go Dodgers!

Hi Mike, well,  command explained. I thought it was related to something else, but at least  now I know  that I shouldn’t mess with this function.  Thank you!
