I had 56 unread emails this morning. The majority of them were inappropriate for this discussion list. Yes, James I used my delete button for 10 minutes... what a waste of my time. Discussion lists are like a library to me. You Go to the travel topic of books to get travel info for a trip. You go to the political science topic for those subjects. I am here to learn about JFW. That's the way this discussion list has been for a long, long time. Folks, I am all in favor of 'legal free speech. Do us all a favor and take it to another discussion list, please. Thanks. Ken

As Brian pointed out, there is a mute topic option at the bottom of each message.

If you haven't created a password for your Groups.io accounts, you will need to do that, which is offered when you activate the mute topic link. So far, I've done that with the parler and the what's this have to do with JFW messages, and now I will do that with the hey moderators ... If you really want help from the moderators, write them directly, which is part of the list guidelines. All of this takes away from focusing on Jaws. I even share the frustration with certain topics, but as I have already observed, history, long history, shows that this group is very lightly moderated and there are scads of topics that are not JAWS related in any way. It is what it is, and if that's not acceptable, and you (any you) are not willing to use the control mechanisms available to you, and which I posted detailed instructions about using earlier, there is an unsubscribe address.
There is no one who's been reading this group for an length of time who could possibly believe it's either tightly focused on JAWS or tightly moderated. So, when these things happen use the Mute this Topic link and the other tricks in, Controlling the Messages You Receive via E-Mail from Groups.io (docx)

Grousp.io gives the end user exquisite levels of control over the traffic they receive from any group, up through topic preview, which allows you to pick and choose only those topics you wish to continue to see once you've seen the first message. I have posted the instructions, Controlling the Messages You Receive via E-Mail from Groups.io (docx), on every group on which I participate. It is absolutely up to end users to avail themselves of the controls they can exercise and if they will not do that, or don't like how the group owner(s) and their staff administer a group, can unsubscribe or go to the no mail option and read via the Groups.io web interface. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 20H2, Build 19042 One does not discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time. ~ André Gide

If you want to communicate with group administration the appropriate way to do that is sending e-mail directly to the owner address. Every message, including this one (sadly), imposes on the time of each and every member of the group who receives them, even if that's hitting the Delete key or doing a Mute this Topic. That should be considered before one elects to post anything, ever. This topic should never have even appeared, but been addressed by the conventional method: emailing the owner address. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 20H2, Build 19042 One does not discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time. ~ André Gide

I myself have left groups because the moderator seemed like Nero far too often. There was also a moderator who wanted all the praise but did not want to do any of the work. She subscribed to the idea of “Work smart” Get others to do all of the work. Yes, my finger was sliding over to the delete key if there is a thread I’m not interested in, as with the topic that has raised the comments about lack of moderation.

Hi Ken,
I subscribe to 6 or 7 Groups IO discussion lists and set my subscription option to a daily digest that arrives in my inbox every morning around 9:00 EST. That way, I get only a single email for each list each day. No way would I ever set it to get every message because it would make a total mess of my inbox.
