Moderated Google Intruding On Web Pages

Hi,
I get this annoying thing in FireFox, I don't use Edge enough to know if it
would occur there.
I'm wondering if some sites do this, and it is unavoidable, or if there is
something I can turn off in Firefox so I don't get these google sign in
offers at the top of many pages.
I have to close it to get the message to go away.
I don't want to use google to log in on web sites.
Thanks

Hey Glenn...

Pretty sure it is website specific. Many sites now offer you the chance to
log in using your google account. Since it's technically not an ad as such,
I don't think ad blockers flag it and it's just there, hanging around being
stinky.

That is what I was thinking, but it is annoying as hell.
Google wants a piece of everything and everyone.

Yep. All big companies do. Google's got their fingers in everything. It's
eitehr them, or Amazon, or Apple, or something else.

I see the same thing in Edge sometimes. Are you using google to do your
searches in Firefox? If you change to another search engine does it do the
same thing? And lastly, is it only on particular websites or across all of
them? That last one goes with the previous question.

Hi Karen,
I don't use Google, I use startpage, which hides me from Google.
It isn't on all pages, just pages that have a log in option.

Hi Glen,
I've not found a way to get rid of that. It is rather annoying. Some
websites want you to sign into google rather than your account at their
website. Annoying.

As an aside, this is but one of the reasons, regardless of the browser, that I do two things:
1. Set it up such that when I exit the browser, that it will reload my last session when it's fired up again.
2. Don't log out on most sites that require me to log in.

For things like Gmail, Groups.io, and many online forums, to name but a few, it's just fire the browser back up and I'm still logged in and on precisely the same page(s) I was using when I last closed out the browser.

It would drive me insane to have to log in again and again and again when it's really not necessary.  My laptop almost never leaves my home, and even when it does, never leaves my physical possession.

Can you explain how to do those steps?

Hi Brian,
These are mostly sites with articles, that I don't have an account with.
But the problem I had with eBay was unrelated to my browser retaining the login info, eBay periodically does this to people for security measures.
So although my credentials were auto-filled, I still had to do the captcha thing.

Firefox:
Settings, General, first checkbox is "Open previous windows and tabs."  Check it.

Edge:
Settings, Start Home & New Tabs, When Edge Starts:  Activate radio button for "Open tabs from the previous session"  (will include multiple windows, if those were in use)

Chrome:
Settings, On startup, select radio button for "Continue where you left off."

The "not logging off" is pretty much part and parcel of these choices, in most cases, with the very rare exception.
