[Bulk] [Bulk] Google Chrome
Dave...
Ed,
Sorry if you thought I was questioning you. I was not. I was questioning the person who claimed that it was accessible because Google said so. Your responses clarify very well. But I'll try to remedy that situation. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marquette, Ed" <Ed.Marquette@...> To: "The Jaws for Windows support list." <jfw@...> Sent: Wednesday, August 17, 2011 10:05 Subject: [Bulk] RE: [Bulk] Google Chrome OK. There is an accessibility page, and even a set of screen-reader users "help" instructions that Google furnishes. I can furnish the Web address for anyone really interested. Google doesn't mention which screen-reader allegedly works with Google Docs. If, however, one attempts the commands that Google suggests, one discovers that they just don't work. For instance, pressing ESCAPE in a Google Docs document is supposed to turn on the menu options. This just doesn't work. Because I have a client who insists on using Google Docs, I spent some time researching this. Freedom Scientific pronounced Google Docs inaccessible and didn't indicate it had any plans to do anything about it. Freedom Scientific blamed Google, as did the other screen reader makers. I called G.W. Micro (I have an up-to-date version of Window-Eyes). I was told the same thing by a person that I recognize as someone on the help/development team at G.W. Micro. At Serotech, I was switched over from general customer support to someone identified as a developer, he said that he was aware of no screen reader that works (or even could work) with Google Docs. So, the message Google was putting out about Google Docs was flatly inconsistent with the story I got from three of the major screen-reader makers. From that, I've inferred that one cannot accept Google's claims of accessibility at face value. -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounces@...
