[Bulk] Google Chrome
Dave...
Haven't heard anyone say that Google Chrome works with JAWS. What does FS
have to say on the question?
Dave Carlson
try to remedy that situation.

Does this work ok with Jaws 12 (latest update)? As far as everyone knows.
I wondered if I might sort out some of my jaws issues if I tried something
other than IE as my browser. I know firefox 6 has come out today and I
wasn't sure to get that or not because of it being the latest version I
didn't know how stable that would be with jaws either.
Any thoughts on Chrome or Firefox 6 would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Kirsten.

Don't ever trust Google's claims of accessibility. Google says that Google Docs is accessible.
Yet, when you talk to the screen reader makers, whether Freedom Scientific, G.W. Micro, or Serotech, they say accessibility for Google Docs is a joke.
I know, I checked.

OK.
There is an accessibility page, and even a set of screen-reader users "help" instructions that Google furnishes. I can furnish the Web address for anyone really interested. Google doesn't mention which screen-reader allegedly works with Google Docs.
If, however, one attempts the commands that Google suggests, one discovers that they just don't work.
For instance, pressing ESCAPE in a Google Docs document is supposed to turn on the menu options. This just doesn't work.
Because I have a client who insists on using Google Docs, I spent some time researching this.
Freedom Scientific pronounced Google Docs inaccessible and didn't indicate it had any plans to do anything about it. Freedom Scientific blamed Google, as did the other screen reader makers.
I called G.W. Micro (I have an up-to-date version of Window-Eyes). I was told the same thing by a person that I recognize as someone on the help/development team at G.W. Micro.
At Serotech, I was switched over from general customer support to someone identified as a developer, he said that he was aware of no screen reader that works (or even could work) with Google Docs.
So, the message Google was putting out about Google Docs was flatly inconsistent with the story I got from three of the major screen-reader makers.
From that, I've inferred that one cannot accept Google's claims of accessibility at face value.

Brandon Keith (Biggs) <brandonboy13@...>
Does anyone know if Google has blind workers on their accessibility teem?
Some of the accessibility options they give are the strangest I have ever seen.
Escape to start menus? That's not obvious, escape is to exit. Plus Jaws probably has something to do with most of the keys that stops them from working on many of the key commands.
Also when they try developing screen readers they don't even have the option to switch voices, the default Sappi voice is the one you're stuck with...
I think they would have a much easier time if they had a blind person directing the program to make accessibility for screen readers. If they do, I'd like to know what screen reader they're using, because it's not Jaws...

I do not think that i stated something far from being understood. I said, on the Chrom accessibility page of Google, it is told that Google supports JFW from the build of 12.1158.

Thanks.
Kirsten.

I too saw the JAWS announcement on the GOOGLE page. It happened that I spoke
to FS later the same day and was informed that FS does not support CROME.

I do not think that i stated something far from being understood. I
said, on the Chrom accessibility page of Google, it is told that
Google supports JFW from the build of 12.1158.
Am I obvious enough now?
