Moderated folder

Good morning.

I am trying to make a folder on my windows computer. Can you guys tell me step by step how to do it.

In File Explorer, presuming you're in a folder where you have permissions to do so, hit CTRL + SHIFT + N.  The new folder is instantly created and you're in the edit box for its name (initially shown as New Folder, and that's already selected).  Type the new name you actually want, hit Enter, you're done.

Another way is...
Let's say you're in your Documents folder and want to create a new subfolder, make sure nothing is selected.
 
Open the context menu with your applications key or the keystroke, Shift + F10.
 
Navigate to the, New submenu, press enter, press enter on, Folder, type in what you want to name the folder and, press enter.
 
You should now have a new subfolder in your Documents folder.

It was not at all clear from the original message that adding a folder to the Desktop was what was wanted.  I'm glad a resolution was reached.

It's important to note, though, that the Desktop is nothing but a folder with which Windows has a very special display relationship.  It is shown in File Explorer, as well as in its native form as the desktop, and if you open the Desktop folder in File Explorer, you can use either the technique I mentioned (CTRL + SHIFT + N) or that Mike B did (SHIFT + F10, followed by W [New], and choosing Folder) to create a new folder.

It's no different when in the Desktop folder in File Explorer than it is for any other folder.

I just hit control shift and n and then type the name of the folder and hit enter


This is on a Windows 10 computer.

The quickest way to do it is to press Control Shift N.

Hey Amir, although this is off-topic for this list, I would be happy to help you with creating your folder. What you want to do is 
1 find an app on your Home Screen, flick up and double tap on edit mode.
2 locate the same app, flick up and click start drag.
3. Find another app that you want in the folder,  flick up on that one, and double tap on create folder with. Your other app will be mentioned there as well. I hope that helps, but if you have any questions, feel free to email me off list..
