Hi Again Cal,

Below are the steps on how to turn off automatic updating in Firefox 3.6.
1. While on the Firefox Home Page, Press Alt + T, for tools, & press the
letter O, for options. You will now be in a List Box.
2. Arrow up or down until you land on the Advanced option.
3. Tab 1 time & you will be in a whole new set of tabs. They are labeled as
follows;
General, Network, Update, & Encryption.
4. Arrow up or down until you land on the update Tab. Tab 1 time & you will
hear, " automatically check for updates to," Firefox, checkbox. If this box
is checked, press the spacebar to uncheck it.
5. Now, tab to okay, press enter, to close, & take you back to the Home
Page.

While tabbing to the okay button you will have noticed that there are some
other important / interesting options in this Update Tab as well.

Hope this helps. Take care.
Mike

What I'm wondering is this: When I open Firefox and if there's an update
it automatically updates. Is there any way to disable this feature or stop
the update once it starts? Thank you.

Hi Julie,

My steps are for the search engine / home page that Mozilla Firefox uses as
its default when you install Firefox.

http://www.google.com/firefox?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official

Sorry for the confusion. Take care.
Mike

Mike,

What excellent instructions, and how thoughtful of you to go to this
trouble. I've just tested them on a non-Firefox page (for the record,
Amazon.com) and they still work.

HI
Isn't this different than automatically updating? You might like to know
when there is an update but not want to update it.

Marsha

Hi Marsha,

When you have the automatically check for updates to Firefox box checked,
tab 3 times to, When updates to Firefox are found. Here you will have 2
choices;
1. Ask me what I want to do, radio button.
2. Automatically download & install the update, radio button.

So, you can make a choice of what you want to do with updates, then tab to
okay, press enter, to close & return to your home page.
Hope this helps. Take care.
Mike
