Hi
I was just wondering. Is there a way to turn off Webvisum when you don't
need it & turn it on when you want to solve a captcha?

Marsha

Adrian Spratt

Yes. Go to tools with alt-t, then options with o. control-shift-tab three or
four times until you hear add-ons. Click on that button. When you locate
Webvisum, tab until you hear "disable." Webvisum will stay in that same
location, so you can return there to re-enable it.

I find Webvisum slows down the loading of FF, so I've often disabled it.

Hi Adrian,

A slight correction to your steps. To get to Add-ons in Firefox, Alt for
tools, then arrow down to Add-ons. Take care.

You can get to add-ons both ways. I don't remember why as I write, but I
find the one I described more workable.

Hi Adrian,

You are absolutely correct! I went back into toolls & options, in the
General option of the list box, & found that if you tab down several times
you will find Manage Add-ons right before the okay button. Take care.

Why would you bother doing that? Webvisum doesn't do a thing except sit in the background until you send a captcha. There's no reason to turn it off.

Hi,

i installed webvisum just 2 days ago and I think I know what Marcia's
concern is. I installed the firefox add-on. I find it rather annoying to
have it tell me everytime I start firefox that webvisum is logged in or else
that it is active.

I too would like to know how to turn it off and on at will instead of having
it there all the time. I turned off the verbose mode and told it not to log
in automatically but I still get an annoying dialog. I can't find in the
help any way to do what I want with it.

thanks.

Other than that dialog, it doesn't do anything, it is totally in the background. I guess you can disable it under the add-on menu, but once you hear the two-second blurb that you are logged in, it doesn't do anything else. It doesn't slow down the browsing experience or anything.

If you want, go into the tools menu, look for the webvisum submenu, and you can disable Webvisum from starting when you launch Firefox.

Also, you can turn the notification verbose checkbox to unchecked which will cut back on what Webvisum tells you.
Take my advice, I don't use it anyway.

Hi Dan,

To prevent Webvisum from running when you open Firefox, do the following;
1. From the Firefox home page press Alt + T, for tools, & press the letter
W, for Webvisum sub menu.
2. Arrow down to preferences & press enter
3. When preferences opens you will be on the General page. Tab 3 times to
the , Automatic Log-in on startup, checkbox & press the spacebar to uncheck
this box.
4. Tab to okay, press enter to save your changes, close, & take you back to
the home page.

The Verbose Notifications checkbox that Steve spoke of is also in the
General page, right before the okay button.

Hope this has helped. Take care.
Mike

Hi
The reason a person might want to turn off Webvisum is that sometimes it
helps Firefox to crash.

If you don't like to hear the webvisum notifications, but you don't want to turn webvisum off, you just change jaws verbocity for firefox to advanced, and you forget about it. The problem with this is that the notifications like "captcha result is copied to your clipboard" will be not available too.
