Moderated Displaying fractions

My student is working with a multiple choice math test, where some of the answers are fractions. JAWS has read these numbers as 'x', not numbers.. I have looked at them with NVDA, which says 'x'; but Narrator reads them with numbers, such as 1 16--without the slash. going back to JAWS, suddenly it read the fractions correctly. First it said "1 16"; down arrow said "1/16. math content".
When I left the page and returned to it, the fractions read as 'x'.

How did I make the stinkin' change? How can I make JAWS read the fractions correctly on my student's computer???

HI Ann,

I've never had fractions verbalized as "X." However, as I expect you've figured out, you could get past the date conversion by unchecking the date processing checkboxes. I just typed "date" into the JAWS settings center and it came up.

For the one program, and you can remove it later, you can have the Jaws
dictionary say times instead of X and divided by, instead of slash.

I've only encountered jaws saying "x" with formatted math content and
in that case it also verbalizes "math content" in addition to the "x".

Hi Ann,

You may have answered your own question.

Activate Narrator, then switch back to Jaws and see if that's the fix.

Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.

Could the math content possibly be math? ML? That would read correctly with Jaws, I think.
