Moderated default dictionary

I’m having memory failure. If I open the dictionary manager with Insert d, how do I designate that I want the new pronunciation to apply to all contexts. I thought I was supposed to press Control Shift D, but that is just reading out the current dictionary file name. There doesn’t’ seem to be a way to use a drop down or such, so I’m guessing I have to know the keystroke. I think I could go to the desktop and launch the dictionary manager from there, but I don’t think I have to do that.

Hi Robin,
Maybe you have your Jaws verbosity set too low, but
if you listen when you do insert D, it says
press shift control D for default
dictionary.
Perhaps you have to enter on "add" to hear
this.

It’s not doing that. I’m not sure why. I haven’t done any special keyboard reassignments. If I go into the dictionary manager and turn on the Key helper, it confirms that Control Shift D should be announcing the default dictionary, but that’s not actually happening. I even tried to go to default JAWS settings with the layered Z command and it’s still not doing anything. Strangely, If I use the left shift control and D, nothing is announced at all. JAWS only acknowledges the right shift control and D. The only unique thing I have hear is that the Hartgen Teams and Outlook scripts are installed. I’ll be getting JAWS 2023 installed shortly, so I’m not too focused on figuring this out, but was curious. Meanwhile, I found the File menu in dictionary manager, so that allows me to select the default dictionary. I have entries there, so the Control Shift D worked for a while. Just not sure if the Hartgen scripts are what changed it or something else.

Glen, you are right that I recall hearing that in the past. I’m set to Intermediate verbosity and my boxes are checked to read. I even just changed a couple settings for more verbosity, but it won’t read. Interestingly, the Control Shift D thing works in Settings Center as it should. Od.
