moderated Blackboard and Jaws2020

Hi all,

I’m assisting a friend using Blackboard through UMass Boston. We’ve run into a problem finding a few things. First off, we can’t find the Course management section, the tools menu or the Collaborate function. Secondly, we’re having trouble loading an assignment, her first.  We’re both using Jaws202, windows 10 and FireFox. We’ve tried to look at these issues using both tandem and simply turning up her speakers on the phone, both to no avail. Any tips  would be greatly appreciated, we’re both pretty stumped.

Thanks,

Sarah Hale

                                                                Hi,

I am using Blackboard through Capella. When I have to turn in an assignment, there is a link for the assignment right before the requirements for the assignment. When you click that link, it takes you to the assignment upload page. For me, on this page, it lands in application mode. I have to double tap the pc cursor key to get out of application mode. There is a button that says “browse” after you tab a couple times. You have to click that button and a dialog box opens where you can either search through your directory tree or just paste the file directly into the box. Then you tab to open and the file is ready to be uploaded. You will then have to tab to the submit button.hth

Awesomeness! Thanks so very much! Any tips on finding the Course Management and Tools menus or the Collaborate option?

Hi,

When you say course management, What actually do you want to do? I am not sure about the collaboration. The only collaboration that I have with my classmetes is when we discuss a topic in the discussion area.

Hi,

Apparently that is where the Tools menu is, we still haven’t found it, but are meeting with the AT specialist tomorrow.

Thanks,

Sarah

Hi,

If that is the case, there should be a link labeled “discusions” with the unit or section name. if you click that link, you enter the discussion area where you can read your classmate’s post and create your own with the “create” link.

Hi,

If you are looking for discussions it is under your course's page. It
is quite easy to find. Use links list or search for discussion. It is
part of the options in the same area of my grades, assignments etc.
I've been using it for 2 semesters now.

My university is switching over to Canvas. It seems simplier to use.

Best,
Vaughn

HI Vaughn,
Thanks for the info! Do let us know how Canvas works? Last I heard it wasn't accessible.
Thanks again,
Sarah
