Try this: Alt then arrow over to view. Arrow down, then tab to arrange by button and hit enter. Tab to show in groups and uncheck with space bar. This should kick you out and should be good. I am using Windows 10, JAWS 2019, and Outlook 13 I believe.

your outlook is set to arrange by groups, dates. I'm not at my computer right now, but you can turn off that feature in outlook. If you want it left on, but want Jaws to ignore it, maybe Mike B, or someone else who knows Jaws settings better will chime in.

Now, what does this show in groups do?Exactly what it's name implies, and in the case of the default settings, that grouping is by date. So, in your typical Outlook message listing it will start with the Today group (which is generally expanded along with several of the "more recent messages" groups that follow), then Yesterday, then each of the days of this current week, working back to Sunday. After that there will be groups for Last Week, Two Weeks Ago, Three Weeks Ago, Last Month, then, finally, the Older group. When you're arrowing up or down through your message list and, say, you know the message you're cruising to find came in Yesterday (and lets presume that Yesterday in this case is Tuesday) if you suddenly encounter the Monday group you know you've either missed it, or you're not remembering the correct day it came in. But even when grouping is on, it's there as a quick convenience for seeing groups of messages from specific time periods. The sort order, if kept in the default of newest to oldest, by date, will have all the conversations arranged that way or, if you turn conversation view off, all of the individual messages arranged that way. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 Tolerance is the positive and cordial effort to understand another's beliefs, practices, and habits without necessarily sharing or accepting them. ~ Joshua Liebman |

Hello,
Using latest Windows 1909, Outlook 2016, and yesterday’s update of jaws the following announcement keeps repeating as I arrow down through mail in my inbox: Group By: Expanded: Date: Yesterday Each time I get to a message with a different date this announcement occurs. I’ve unchecked many verbosity setting in Outlook but can’t quiet this message. Suggestions?

John,
This worked good. However, once I saved the changes by selecting ok, exited Outlook, then rebooted computer same issue occurred. Now the directions you suggested don’t work as tabbing does not show arrange by choice. Suggestions?

Hi Alison,
The punctuation level most people prefer is, Some,
and how to change the punctuation level is below.
Here are 3 ways of changing the punctuation
level setting:
#1. For an individual application using Jaws Quick Settings: 1. While in any application / program press, Insert + V, to open the Jaws quick settings. 2. In the search field type, punctuation, or just the 1st 4 letters will work as well and it'll take a second for the list to populate. You should hear something like, Punctuation 1 of 1 search results. Now down arrow and you should hear Jaws report, punctuation... with the ... meaning your current level setting. Now press the spacebar to toggle through your punctuation level options. They are None, Some, Most & All. 3. When you hear the level setting you want stop pressing the spacebar, tab to, Okay, and press enter to save and close. #2. To change the punctuation level for an individual application in the Settings Center: 1. Open the Settings Center by pressing, Insert + 6, on the number row. 2. Down arrow to, Punctuation closed, and right arrow to open. 3. Down arrow 2 times to, Punctuation level..., the ... is the current level you're set on. Now press the spacebar to toggle through your punctuation level options. They are None, Some, Most & All. 4. When you hear the level setting you want stop pressing the spacebar, tab to, Apply, press the spacebar, now tab to, Okay, and press enter to save and close. #3. To change the punctuation level for all applications in Settings Center default all applications: 1. Open the Settings Center by pressing, Insert + 6, on the number row, now press, control, shift + D, to open Settings Center default all applications. Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool. The fix for this problem is to bring up the context menu – go to Junk and select the never block option. This adds the address to your safe senders list and should allow the download of images and prevent the annoying message.

I am afraid for each address separately though there is an option to never block from senders domain which could include all email addresses from a particular source such as @nhs.uk or something like that.
