I'm not sure, as I don't use that feature. I often replace the word with the word or words I'd like to use.

Subject: Use cases for adding sounds in JAWS dictionary

Hi,

I was just adding a name to the pronunciation dictionary. I went past the “play a sound” option, but I’ve often wondered of good use cases for this.  Anyone care to share if they use this and the benefit?  The only idea I have come up with is to have it play a sound when I’ve having JAWS either abbreviate  something or elaborate on an acronym, so I’m aware of what is actually typed.  For example, by default, Vocalizer will say "New York City" when it sees the acronym of “NYC”.  Because I want to know that it’s the acronym and not the spelled out words, I added a dictionary entry to have Vocalizer read it as N Y C.   I’ve wondered if it would be smart to add a  sound to entries I make or if the intention is to use a sound to replace JAW saying a word.  Ideas?  Love to hear your uses.
