Because Jarte is based largely on Wordpad, I will probably continue to workeven if it is no longer supported as long as Wordpad continues to work. I have not heard anywhere that MS intends to end support for Wordpad. Speaking of which, there is also HJ Pad, the free word processor that comes bundled with JAWS, which is also based on Wordpad, and is perfectly adequate for many users.

I'm surprised nobody has so far suggested the free Jarte word processor program, which works well with JAWS and is very popular with blind computer users:

I have read somewhere that Microsoft are going to be discontinuing the stand alone purchase of Office after V2021 of the product- This is likely true. That being said: 1. Office 2019 has extended support through 2025. 2. With the exception of Outlook, which is in constant contact with cyberspace as part of what it does, you could continue using Word 2019 indefinitely if it meets your needs. 3. If you can manage to get together with a few friends (up to 5 in addition to your self) for a family subscription to M365, the cost per year is less than $20, and it takes quite a few years of $20 to get anywhere near to the up-front cost of earlier versions of Office. 4. LibreOffice or Google Docs are both very good choices. Which is better depends on personal preference.
