Moderated Informed daily delivery question
I’m going to try that now, what Jerald said.
I usually access information from the iPhone but always wanted to try it using the shark.

Thank you so much Gerald for sharing! For the first time since I signed up for Informed Delivery, I finally had success. Before, I’m pretty sure I only tried accessing the information from within the message in Outlook, but my memory isn’t great, so who knows maybe I did try via the website. Even though I didn’t know about content, I chose to keep getting alerts as it notified me mail was expected and I could take the long walk to retrieve.
Anyway, on my Windows 10 laptop with current versions of everything including JAWS & Chrome, I had to add a couple of steps that you didn’t mention. For example, after signing in, the find command couldn’t find “scan”; I had to do a couple of things before searching for “scan”. Also, when in the Picture Smart process, it was necessary to click on “more” to get the description.
I appreciate the nudge to try again.

Yes, the US Postal Service, in its infinite wisdom, decided to eliminate the scanned images of each piece of mail from the informed delivery message. You must now click on the mail dashboard link in the message to access the Informed Delivery site and log in to your account in order to use JAWS Picture Smart. Once you have logged in, use the JAWS Find command, Control-F for the word ,"scan" to locate each occurrence of "scanned image of your mail piece", and for each occurrence, press JAWS key, Space bar, followed by P, then C to invoke Picture Smart and have JAWS read the text on the mail piece

Other than Jaws OCR is involved, which is not the problem with accessing it.
Besides, you can use Jaws to access the playstore or app store to install

I don't think so, unless you can use VmWare and install Android in VmWare,
and then install it from the play store.
But you can run the seeing with sound program on your computer, which
sonifies the environment where the camera is seeing, and it also does OCR.
That runs in windows, but you need a camera attached to the computer.
Here's a link to the program that installs into windows, from my open drive,
it's called vOICe.exe
It is an older version of the program, and I think you have to toggle OCR
on/off with a hotkey or from the menus.
It is mainly used to use sound to trace the outline of what the camera is
seeing, so for that, it's best done with headphones.

It is an older version of the program, and I think you have to toggle OCR

issue but also the sender.
Government agencies seem paranoid that a statement or an informing note
might get into the wrong hands; and ever notice the disclaimers some law
firms and financial institutions attach to their emails?
And, as a quasi-government entity that the postal service is, they likely
fall into that category too.
Does anyone know how this process works? Is the scanning done at the
recipeints local post office, by some central sorting facility; and, if
you request this, what exactly get scanned and does there seem to be a
delay in receiving mail.
There are many small post offices with 1 or 2 people working on a giving
day so I would hate to impose upon them yet another task to their
workload.
As for the app Glenn mentioned, wonder if it could be adapted for phones
such as the Blindshell 2?
Perhaps those who own these smart phones should ask if that is an app that
could be added to their list or not.
Contrary to its name, this list is apparently no longer limited to the discussion of topics directly related to JAWS and is very loosely moderated, if at all, and anything is now fair game.

Well Gene, I could say what does informed delivery have to do with Jaws? Other than Jaws OCR is involved, which is not the problem with accessing it. Besides, you can use Jaws to access the playstore or app store to install Seeing AI to your device. Because I use JAWS' Picture Smart feature to tell me what is in the
scanned image. So JAWS allows me to use the service the way it was meant
to by used. You using Seeing AI to scan you mail and packages as they
arrive is a completely different situation where the only thing it has
in common with me using JAWS to access the scanned images in a email
sent to me is that we are both using digital camera and object
recognition and OCR to find out about our mail.
Happy holidays!

Personally, I think it should be up to the customer whether they want
the scanned images emailed to them or not. I might be blind, but I do
not think that that means that I am no longer capable of making such
decisions for myself.
