Subject: BackUp Options
This really should be a topic of its own.
TJ McElroy asked, in a different topic: Your backup tutorial seems very helpful.
Do you have one for restoring a backup that was made using Macrium Reflect Free with a screen reader?
On a slightly different topic,
Would you know of a command line imaging program that could be used to back up and restore a windows machine?
Virtually no common commercially available backup software is readily accessible for the recovery phase because this takes place using Windows PE (and often in a version you build with the backup software itself) which has no screen reader support by default, at least up through Windows 10. I have been led to believe that the WinPE for Windows 11 has Narrator, but I have not dealt with any WinPE environment built under Windows 11.
I have not looked at any command line option for backing up, but many of the commercially available packages absolutely allow command line use instead of or in addition to their GUI interfaces. As far as Macrium and command line use, see their own knowledgebase page: https://knowledgebase.macrium.com/display/KNOW/Scripting+and+command+line+operations+with+Macrium+Reflect
But, again, using a backup tool from the command line is easy, because "the backup phase" always happens on a functioning machine. Restore/recovery is not so easy because in most cases it's being run on a machine where the main drive has crashed and you're restoring directly to the replacement drive. If you happen to be restoring on a machine that's still fine because you want to do a rollback to its state when the last backup was taken, that is easy, too, because Windows is still running on that machine.

If you cannot or will not imagine the results of your actions, there’s no way you can act morally or responsibly. Little kids can’t do it; babies are morally monsters — completely greedy. Their imagination has to be trained into foresight and empathy.
