Moderated dongal and ear buds
Kevin Meyers
Hello, I have ear buds that have a problem once in a Zoom meeting. I borrowed a ear bud that uses a dongal to connect to my laptop and the ear bud works in Zoom. The cost of that was $240. To much for me. Does anyone know if I can purchase a dongal and allow my ear bud connect to my laptop? The one I borrowed came with the dongal. Cheers, Kevin

The problem you might have here is that those earbuds that came with a dongle probably aren't bluetooth. For regular wireless earbuds that use bluetooth, the dongle you get would have to provide bluetooth connectivity to connect with the earbuds and if your computer already has bluetooth you just be duplicating what you already have.

If I'm wrong somebody please correct me. I'm only a beginner when it comes to bluetooth. Gene... On 11/1/2022 2:54 PM, Kevin Meyers wrote:

Plantronics by Poly Voyager 5200 Wireless Headset - Single-Ear Bluetooth Headset w/Noise-Canceling Mic - Ergonomic Design - Voice Controls - Lightweight It is odd that the only way I can connect this ear bud so it works in Zoom is to use the dongal. I need to find a dongal to use with my Plantronics. It worked with my friends. I guess I could just buy a dongal and see if it works. Or would the dongal that came with my friends ear bud setup to only work with that ear bud? Cheers, Kevin -----Original Message-----

If your friend will let you try it, you can always see if it will connect to your Plantronic earbuds, but chances are it is specifically designed for those earbuds and will not work with anything else.

For a generic dongle as long as there is a return option you could always try one, if it doesn't work, you could always return it. Gene... On 11/1/2022 4:09 PM, Kevin Meyers wrote:

Did you check inside the charging case for the dongle? Mine was located on the inside left of the case.

I own this headset and can assure you that the dongle is BT and not usb although it does go into a usb port.It is a BT receiver and the hedset ipaired with it. Second, I believe that the dongle is dedicated to your specific headset. You may need to contact Plantronics to see if they can provide a replacement. It is so crucial that you keep track of these dongles and they are becoming much more prevalent for connecting different devices. -----Original Message-----

The ear bud I purchased didn't come with a case or dongal. I don't take anywhere outside of my home. I use a different one on my iphone.
