I have subscribed to the list for a long time, but haven't used it
much till now. I really look forward to your responses. When I tried
installing the latest JAWS 2023 update, it said install failed, and to
try running a repair. Why did the run a repair message happen, and
what can I do about it?

There's no way to know why your upgrade failed with the information you provided.

To do a repair you run the installer with the command line option "/type repair" so it would look something like this:

C:\work\J2023Install.exe /type repair

If the repair fails, you might need to do the repair with the installer for your current version of JAWS, then upgrade to 2023.
