Moderated Convenient OCR
Hello:
Sounds like a problem that you need to take up with the fine folks at Vispero. Sorry.
Best wishes,

Having a problem getting Convenient OCR to scan. When it gets to cameras and scanner it says not available. I know the scanner is OK because it works when I am running Kurzwiel 1000. Is there something in settings that has to be turned on to enable OCR? It works on my Win 7 PC but not on My Win 10 PC. Thanks, Tom
Hey.
I have no solution for you. I have found JAWS oCR to be a bit flaky generally. You have Kurzweil 1000 though, a dedicated oCR solution, which already puts you ahead I would think. Is there anything JAWS oCR provides that kurzweil doesn’t?

Hey there, tom, Brian Zolo here in Gahanna, Ohio, feel free to call me BZ, grin! There’s a driver from freedomscientific called direct show bridge which you’ll need to download from freedomscientific. I’ll get the url or at least get you the right link where you can download it from freedomscientific. Once you install it, you’ll be able to use it with whatever camera or scanner you’re using with jaws ocr. BZ!with

Fair enough. I guess that’s why they call it…Convenient oCR..it’s Convenient…when it works.

I find OCR convenient if I just want to do something like check an envelope to see who it is from. For extended reading I use K1000. Tom

Yeah; actually you don’t need the add-on anymore to do OCR with NVDA. It uses windows built in capability (which windows itself doesn’t offer a front-end for I guess)…but I’m not sure it works independently with scanners and cameras. You might need something else for that. I think there is still an unofficial NVDA OCR addon of some kind.

Isn't there an NVDA add-on that does this too?
