I’ve used this before, it worked and it will hide your screen from meeting attendees. You can also assign this to a keystroke in the keyboard manager.

Mike:
I’ll let you know if the screen shade really does effectively hide the screen during the Zoom meeting session.
I believe this was successfully done by others last year which is why I’m going to give it a try tonight.
The only thing I don’t know right now is whether to turn on the screen shade before or after I share my screen during the Zoom meeting.
Will be an interesting experiment.

Hi all. One thing to consider is whether or not the Screen shade feature only works on a local screen. I saw the initial message indicating that you wanted to use this as part of a Zoom meeting. Sharing your screen may not include the option to hide the information, because of the way Zoom shares the information. I am hoping the Screen shade feature will accomplish what you want it to do in this environment.

I verified this by turning it on through the Utilities menu and then turning it off using the keyboard command. I heard “off.”

I believe it does turn it on but there is no verbal confirmation as I tried it after I replied to your first message.

Thanks, Milton.
I hope Freedom Scientific eventually will create a toggle for the screen shade function that speaks, so it can easily be turned on and off right from the utilities menu.

Hi,
Yes, using Screen Shade will not speak from the Utilities Menu and if you are wanting to be sure you have screen shade on it would be best to use the keyboard command.

Hello, everyone.
This evening, I will begin teaching an online class via Zoom where I will occasionally need to hide the text of a file I will be using.
I understand I can do this via the Jaws screen shade function.
I can invoke the screen shade function via insert space F11, and when I do this, I’m told whether the screen shade is on or off.
This is easy enough to do, but I have also discovered that the screen shade function can be accessed in the Jaws utilities menu.
However, when I arrow down to screen shade and hit enter or the spacebar, nothing happens.
Am I missing something?
I obviously can invoke the screen shade function via insert space F11, but thought it would be nice to be able to do this quickly in the utilities menu.
Thanks for any help!
