Moderated trouble clicking on a button

Hi all,

I’m trying to sign up for a for a few newsletters but when I enter on the sign up button nothing happens and I’ve even tried using the spacebar with the same lack of a result. I also tried using Narrator but that didn’t work either. I’ve contacted the news site but it said that it’ll likely take them awhile to answer so I’m hoping that someone might be able to help me so that I can get signed up sooner. It doesn’t seem like you need to create an account first so not sure why this isn’t working. Any ideas of how I might be able to get this button to work? I’m using the latest versions of Edge, Jaws 2022 and Windows 11; really hope someone can help me as this is getting rather frustrating as I know that the button is there. Thanks

Madison

Madison,

Are you willing to share an example of  one of the site?  Sometimes I route my JAWS cursor to the button and left mouse click.  I also find more commonly now that I have to actually hit enter twice quickly on some buttons to get them to work. I don’t know the coding reasons for this, but hitting it once seems to start forms mode with JAWS and it’s actually the second press of enter that engages the button.

I had no problem using MS Edge and JAWS 2022 February release on Windows 10.  I put a check mark in the Royals newsletter, then added my email address in that edit box and tabbed to the Sing up buton. I hit enter on that once and got a confirmation page.

Did you select which newsletter you wanted?  Could be that the button is disabled until you checked at least one newsletter.

Yeah,  that is odd.  All I needed to do was the checkbox, my email and then tab to sign up.  You could turn off JAWS and try Narrator, just to get the task done. I just did this with a poorly designed survey.

Yeah,  that is odd.  All I needed to do was the checkbox, my email and then tab to sign up.  You could turn off JAWS and try Narrator, just to get the task done. I just did this with a poorly designed survey.

Tabbing and then entering on the button didn’t work; this is really weird

I had no problem using MS Edge and JAWS 2022 February release on Windows 10.  I put a check mark in the Royals newsletter, then added my email address in that edit box and tabbed to the Sing up buton. I hit enter on that once and got a confirmation page.

Did you select which newsletter you wanted?  Could be that the button is disabled until you checked at least one newsletter.

Thanks

Madison
