Hello everyone! Do you know any reliable OCR software for Windows apart from ABBYY Fine Reader and Jaws OCR?
Thanks Christina |

Unfortunately I don't know of anything else. At one time Nuance's Omni Page was considered on of the best OCR programs available, but lately I've been hearing that the quality of their OCR engine has pretty much gone into the crapper.

I know I bought Omni Page about eight or nine years ago and it was pretty bad then. Gene... On 9/17/2022 5:54 PM, christina wrote:

I need an OCR software for reading inaccessible PDF documents and scanning hardcopies.

Abbyy finereader does extremely well with image PDFs. Haven't used it for scanning hardcopy and the editor doesn't seem to bevery accessible, sadly (would be very n ice if it was), but you can probably still use it and fix up afterwards in your programmeo f choice. Of course, many scanners also come with software and you could just use that to generate a pdf which you then run OCR on in Abbyy...

Anyway, that's what I would do. -----Original Message-----

Does the OCR space website work with scanning actual hardcopy documents? I have a textbook that I need to scan. I do have two flatbed scanners, only problem is I can’t seem to find the cord for either of them. You know how one end of the cord goes into the scanner and the other end goes to the computer. Anyways, I don’t know how I happen to have two scanners, but I do, but I can’t find the cord to either one. I’d really like to scan this book into my computer rather than my phone, so what else could I use besides a big huge flatbed scanner? Right now I have Kurzweil installed on one of my laptops, but the last time I used it when I was able to plug one of my flatbeds to my computer, it said scan failed, like immediately when I pressed F9. I used to also have one of those EyePal cameras but I don’t anymore. Or at least I don’t know where one is. Anyways, thanks for reading, I am interested in this subject also.
