Moderated Jaws Announcing "Has Details"

Jaws 2022 Microsoft Edge v. 105 While navigating an article, Jaws announces "Has details." Additionally, Jaws will say "Entering Details." From what I gathered, this is related to Accessible Rich Internet Applications (ARIA). I have two questions. 1. Is this similar to the "Long Description" or "Long Desc?" If so, is there a Jaws keystroke to reveal additional information. 2. Is there any way to get Jaws to not announce "Has Details?" Thanks |

If it's not a notification that can be managed with the JAWS' notification manager, you might be able to use flexible web for that.

And that's about as far as my knowledge of JAWS gets me. If there is a setting for this I am not aware of it. Gene... On 9/13/2022 10:14 PM, Marc Grossman wrote:

Just out curiosity and to experience what you are talking about, is there a web site I can go to?

It's not a notification, it's a web element.

There are 2 circumstances where JAWS should announce "has details": 1. If there is an HTML figure and figcaption element. When navigating to the start of the figure element "has details" should be announced, when navigating to the figcaption element "entering details" should be announced. "has details" is a hint that the content of the figure element contains a figcaption element that describes the content contained within the figure element. 2. if an HTML element that is allowed to have the aria-details="ID reference" has this attribute. When navigating to the start of the element "has details" should be announced. When navigating to the element with the ID referenced in aria-details attribute "entering details" should be announced. Note that JAWS has a bug that causes every child element of either code above, to be suffixed with the "has details" announcement. This is a known issue and is being fixed.
