Hello Mike,

I have not yet installed the Speak Dropbox program

what I will do first ist to purchase the 1 Month free Abo of Dropbox plus

and hopefully have then access to the file in Question. I then plan to cancel this Abo and fall back to the free version.

lets see how this works out.

I am surprised that The forum responses so far did not elaborate on the question how to acces the application bottons of Dropbox!

Hi Klaus,

I don't use this feature of Windows, but here's how to access Backup settings.

Press, Windows key + I, to open Setttings and tab 1 time to get into the list of categories.

Navigate to, Update and Security and tab 1 time into the list of categories.

Down arrow to, Backup, and press enter to open.  This is where I stop since I haven't used this feature.
Good luck.

P.S.  Did you try the Speak Dropbox program?

Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.

Hello Mike,

thanks for the response.

the file in Question does not show up in my desktop app nor in
Dropbox.com.filelist

The file (the name ist probably samsung t5) is shown on my wifes IPad in
the list of recen action list - but this is just a list that does not
allow deletion.

Any search for "samsung" in Dropbox has no results.

On my desktop app app I am not able to go anywhere except the dropbox
filelist and manipulate files.

I cannot reach the area where "settings, account, backup etc are located.

The dropbox helpdesc suggests the cause is a unintented backup file and
I schould go to settings and backup - but how to accomplish this?

Hello Mike,

Hi Again Klaus,

Since you can't access your preferences I suggest you try this little program called Speak Dropbox.  It provides access to Dropbox folder, preferences and settings with it's own built in keystroke.

Check it out below.

SpeakDropbox is a lightweight application that runs on the system tray and looks for a Dropbox icon in the ssystem tray.

If found, it watches the tool tip text for that icon and can automatically read it out loud or play sounds when there is a change to the tool tip text.

As a result, SpeakDropbox is able to announce out loud or produce alert noises when the Dropbox app is up to something like downloading a file, uploading
a file, indexing, connecting, downloading file list, etc.

Additionally, it allows for manual checking of the tool tip text from anywhere
with a configurable keystroke (especially useful when using sounds only and wanting to find out what Dropbox is up to when you hear one of the sounds),
and a double press provides an easy way to open the Dropbox menu from anywhere without the need of using "system tray listing" functionality in your screen
reader or simulating a click on the Dropbox tray icon.

Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.

Hi Klaus,

Are you saying the file / folder you want to delete isn't showing in your Dropbox local folder on your computer?

If you log into your Dropbox account at Dropbox.com, can you find it and delete it there?

Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.

Hello,

Ihave to delete an unintended large backup file that exceed my space
limit but cannot go to any application settings.

I have no problem with folder action but the file in question does not
show up here.

Please help - all synchronization has stopped and I am told to pay for
more memory but I rather want to delete the file.

Klaus
