Hi, when the num pad is locked on I have the numbers and all, but when I turn if off, the keys do nothing. No enter key, no left right mouse keys, it says and does nothing. What’s wrong. Thanks. Judy & Libby

We might need more information. What kind of keyboard is this? Is this a laptop? Is there something else that might be running that uses the num pad if num lock is off? When did this start happening and can you think of anything that might have changed to cause a new behaviour? Have you tried restarting? Does for iexample NVDA also not respond to numpad keys?

If you are using a laptop, maybe there is something specific about the make and modela nd its keyboard number pad It seems that many laptops have weird keyboard settings that can be adjusted in bios that are independent of the operating system.

So sorry, I’m on a desktop computer. Using Win 10, and Jaws 2019. I can’t think of a thing I did different at all to cause this to happen.  It doesn’t matter about the browser or search engine, it just doesn’t work. Judy & Libby

Hello Judy:



In JAWS, there is a setting, "Differentiate Between Numpad Keys and
Extended
Keys". By default, this is supposed to be unchecked. Press INSERT+6 to get
into the JAWS Settings Center, then press CTRL+SHIFT+D to get into the
default settings. Now, search for "differentiate" without the quotes. What
do you see when you start arrowing down?

Hi, Judy. Have you tried doing a repair of JAWS, by using the JAWS installer, current for the update of JAWS which you have installed on your computer?

Hi all, thanks for all the suggestions but none worked. I spent almost an hour on the phone with Microsoft disability yesterday, but he couldn’t get it to work either. It is certainly strange that it works when locked, but not when unlocked. I miss the jaws and pc cursors. Any other possible suggestions would be appreciated. Judy & Libby
