You did not mention if this was a laptop or desktop but if it is a desktop you may want to have an external mic or a headset with a mic. Most desktops do not come with a usable microphone for zoom.

Hi Leonard, Clicking the link to the meeting should cause the Zoom app to launch. Once you’re in the meeting, alt+a mutes and unmutes you, Alt+v toggles on and off your camera, and alt+y raises and lowers your hand if you want to attract the attention of the host when you want to make a point - you may not need something that formal on a family gathering. Boy. You really have been thrust into the middle of it. Zoom is very accessible nonvisually. But there is a bit of up front learning that can only be gained with experience. Are you hosting? Because if you are and have not set up a Zoom account, you will need to do that. The free accounts give you a maximum time in a meeting of 40 minutes.
