Moderated spelling mistakes

I am also imperfect, and because I help quite a few people with their computers, as well as maintaining two computers of my own, I make quite a few more mistakes.

Oh, well. We all make mistakes. Truthfully though, someone could have easily fixed it when they replied to your enquiry. It could have been done very diplomatically without you even knowing.

Well, all I can say is my spelling was atrocious till I used a spell checker. Even the word atrocious I'd frequently misspell. I blame the scholastic system. LOL. Till grade 5 in elementary school I was spelling the word ghost, goast. I was never corrected till then.

It reminds me of a discussion by a bunch of spinster retired schoolmarms who were more concerned with form rather than substance. Email lists are give and take discussions, not literature. And, what Madison did, was transpose 2 letters which are next to each other on the kb. And as folks knew what Madison was asking, that is all that matters. And over the months I have been here, the questions Madison has raised have provided everyone with a lot of useful information. Keep posting. On Sun, 7 Aug 2022, Gene Warner wrote:

Let me a comment:
folks come to this list for answers to their JFW questions. And, when folks start complaining about spelling errors, a lot of people will get self-conscious and perhaps not ask their questions. As long as one knows what someone is talking about and a misspelled word doesn't mess up the understanding or convey misinfo, it's better to accept that for what it is; an honest unintentional error and nothing more. After all, we're all human and, hence, prone to missteps. And he who isn't, let him/her throw the first stone. |

And then there's the problem of a typo or a spelling mistake resulting in a valid word. A spell checker won't catch that.

I'm sure it was a typo and not a mis-spelling.
But sometimes if I mis-spelled a word so badly that my spell checker can't offer a suggestion, I ask Alexa how to spell the word.
