Moderated Jaws volume rising and dipping
Hi there,
Sorry, one more question.
With my new Lenovo laptop I am finding that the Jaws volume rises and falls of its own accord. Sometimes this happens while working with a specific programme however mostly it happens if I open something new or move to another task. I guess this may be a sound card issue. Has anyone else come across this and perhaps knows how to resolve it?
I am using Jaws22 on Windows 10 Enterprise
With thanks

Mine did that and I did something to make the sound the same globally. Sorry but I don’t remember what it was. I know it was something in Jaws setting and I did the default to get it to do it to all the apps. I might have just changed the volume so that it was done across everything. I just know it drove me nuts for awhile too.
You could also check for updates. It’s possible I did nothing and that did it.

Mine still does that on my personal HP Pavilion and I didn’t know a fix. I just figured it was a problem with a cheap sound card and since I don’t know how to reproduce it on demand, I didn’t’ know how to troubleshoot it. I’m inclined to think it’s what the one person wrote about the Realtec drivers.

It was possible that I fixed it by updating the Lanovo stuff. Please don’t ask me how. That’s what my sighted tech husband is for. <smile>

I knew of that setting and it didn't do anything for this problem.
Apparently the Realtec drivers very aggressively put the audio system
hardware to sleep to save on battery usage and it takes too much time to
wake them so you lose the beginning of what JAWS says and there is
apparently no way to turn that off.

Hi, Gene and Kevin. There actually is a program you can install that will correct this problem, even if the setting in JAWS doesn't correct it. Download the Silenzio program from the following link,

JAWS also provides possible fix under the default configuration, when you search for sound. Just try to uncheck "Avoid speech cut off when using Bluetooth headphones or some sound cards".

I have, it was Realtec's high definition audio drivers. I just uninstalled them and let Windows install the default high definition audio drivers that come with it. Problem solved. I hope that helps you, that volume problem was really annoying.
