Moderated editing and commenting in share point

Cynthia Bruce

Hi Folks,

I am part of a working/advisory group, ironically on accessibility, and I am struggling with the documents in share point. It seems like I can see comments but not what they apply to, or I can read the document text and know there is a comment without being able to see what the comment says. Has anyone had better luck than I with this? I am using JAWS 2021 and the current version of office 365.

Thanks for any help,

Cynthia

Are you opening documents from a list on a SharePoint page or are you talking about reviewing the page in SharePoint?   We moved to SharePoint online in the last year and I’m having a horrible time with it.  SharePoint 2010 and 2013 were OK.  Some of my pages are still in the old classic format, as they call it, but new ones are in the new format that I find extremely cluttered and verbose.    If the documents you are opening are in a library, which would appear typically list a chart of document titles, they would open in the Office program associated, I would think, and regular track changes would apply.

I am opening the document in share point, not in the associated application.

I downloaded it to word, but it won’t sync to the share point document for others to see. Honestly, trying to do it on line is horrible.

I’m not familiar with that method. It may be a feature I haven’t used yet.  I’ve created pages in the past and loaded documents to a library, which open in the associated Office application when double clicked.  If no one else responds, you may want to call Microsoft Accessibility to see if they are familiar with the method you are using.  I was about in tears the other day trying to figure out the SharePoint Online interface and was planning to go look for some accessibility webinar or such  on Microsoft’s site.  I used to be in charge of our divisions sharepoint page, but I’ve become completely incompetent with the newer interfaces.

Thanks so much. We have a work around right now because I have a tight timeline on a couple of documents. Then I will dig around to see how I can sort the issue.
