OK. Well, it sounds to me like you will be trying the Asus. If and when you do, would you please let us know how it worked and exactly which model you got?

Dave,
I logged into my router, and all I can find
is:
Linksys Smart-Wifi
Mine has three removable antennas and two USB ports
on it, if that helps narrow down the model.

My ISP stopped allowing third-party
modems.
I used to by mine from their recommended modems,
but then they replaced mine with one of their own and decided that they would
rather charge for leasing them to everyone.
I'm in the process now of switching from Sparklight
to Allo, for multiple reasons.
I'm glad my town finally quit the practice of only
letting the one exclusive company and allowed other companies to come in for
competition.

using JAWS I’m with Spectrum in Fontana. I don’t think the router is the issue as much as the modem. Since I’ve been with them, I think I’ve used a TP-Link, Linksys and have been using an Eero mesh WiFi system for the past four or so years now. Where you do have to pay attention I believe is the modem that you use if you want to use your own which is generally the better choice. You don’t have to pay the expensive monthly rental fee and you can get a much better modem than what you’re usually given by your ISP. Checking my Amazon order history, looks like I bought my ARRIS Surfboard SB6190 back in June of 2016. I just had to call Spectrum at the time and read them off the Mac or whatever number off of the modem so they could ping or register it and I was good to go. Other than that, it’s been plug and play and forget about it but for a few area outages. From what I recall, navigating the TP-Link and Linksys with Jaws were accessible enough to do what I needed to do with ports and tweaking this and that, but as far as Eero, I’ve only used the iOS app when messing around with the interface.
